The economic downturn is providing a fresh business opportunity for Michael Grimmé, CEO of AMC Liquidators. With designers and furniture retailers struggling, the Fort Lauderdale entrepreneur is filling up trailers with merchandise for resale, he said. "We are able to buy retail, first-grade goods inexpensively - in some cases cheaper than we were able to buy pre-owned goods in the past." Grimmé already had a 45,000-square-foot warehouse and retail location on Commercial Boulevard, but has bought the Carriage Trade consignment business on Las Olas Boulevard to directly target consumers seeking high-end merchandise.
